Introduction of African game to the kids in Switzerland for strategic thinking

Lema Plan International in collaboration with Passeport Vacancy for the youth of Neuchâtel and around organized an activity for the children of the region “African Games” which took place on the 5th and 13th of July,2021. The main goal of the activity was to introduce “Oware”/Awele an African game to the children of the region. OWARE is also known as the ”count and capture” game, it is an abstract strategy game among the Mancala family of board games that are now played worldwide. The main purpose of introducing the game to kids here in Switzerland is to motivate school-aged kids to count, think strategically and motivate young mathematicians in society.

We couldn’t have done it alone, We deeply appreciate the support and aid we got from Professor Jean RETSCHITZKI of Fribourg and Mr. Adu, the president of Swiss Minor throughout.
