awale board game

Introducing the board game Awale to the Swiss Community

In the board game Awale, two players face off against one another. On their side of the board, each player is in charge of six houses. Each player has four seeds in each of the 12 houses at the beginning of the game.

The aim is to obtain more seeds than your opponent. Since every player starts with 24 seeds, victory would need only collecting at least 25 seeds.

Our organization had the pleasure of showcasing the Awale board game to the Swiss community. The event took place at the esteemed Ludesco Festival in La Chaux-de-Fonds on March 16 and 17, 2024. This event provided us with an exceptional opportunity to engage with participants and create a truly memorable experience for all.

Many Swiss individuals who attended the event may have yet to be aware that it merely takes five minutes to grasp the game’s rules. Awale is not as complex as it may appear and achieving victory in it necessitates a considerable amount of focus.

The majority of the participants, about eighty percent, were unfamiliar with the game, so our team took the initiative to instruct them on the rules and strategies of the game

One family in particular showed interest in the rules. Having developed their own set of rules for the board games they play at home. It gave the team great pleasure in educating them on the proper rules.

I am also grateful for the presence of the remarkable couple who attended. I must say, they displayed an impressive aptitude for learning. They astoundingly grasped all the necessary concepts to achieve victory within a mere 10 minutes. Impressively, the woman exhibited a strong competitive spirit as she relentlessly challenged her husband, which made for an exhilarating spectacle.

Children who understand fundamental mathematical ideas should play the Awale game. Not only is the game entertaining, but it’s also well-known for improving mathematical skills and attention span.

We extend our gratitude to all those who took part in the event, with special appreciation to Adu Aji, Chairman of the Swiss Minor of Bienne, for his generous commitment.
